Essential Functions

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Verify and input employee time records, leave balances, and adjustments into the payroll system.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to salary or deductions.
  • Ensure all payroll data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Compile compensation spreadsheets for clinical staff, ensuring accuracy of data imported from EMR.
  • Research state and federal payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage-related inquiries as assigned to ensure that ABH practices are in compliance.
  • Aid in the preparation of payroll tax filings and reports as needed.
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Absorb and resolve payroll account discrepancies.
  • Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, budget, and other departments to maintain proper flow and data maintenance (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g., overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports).
  • Provide customer service to employees, management, and outside vendors/agencies.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and escalate complex issues to the Senior Accounting Manager.
  • Contribute to general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to ongoing projects and process initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties within the accounting team as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university working toward a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong desire to elevate accounting skills and gain hands-on experience in pursuit of a professional accounting career.
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles (GAAP) and payroll laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of organization.
  • Demonstrated integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and payroll data.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Previous internship, coursework, or work experience in accounting or a related field is a plus but not required.
