Essential Functions
- Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Verify and input employee time records, leave balances, and adjustments into the payroll system.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to salary or deductions.
- Ensure all payroll data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Compile compensation spreadsheets for clinical staff, ensuring accuracy of data imported from EMR.
- Research state and federal payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage-related inquiries as assigned to ensure that ABH practices are in compliance.
- Aid in the preparation of payroll tax filings and reports as needed.
- Generate and distribute payroll reports for internal stakeholders.
- Absorb and resolve payroll account discrepancies.
- Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, budget, and other departments to maintain proper flow and data maintenance (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g., overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports).
- Provide customer service to employees, management, and outside vendors/agencies.
- Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and escalate complex issues to the Senior Accounting Manager.
- Contribute to general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to ongoing projects and process initiatives.
- Perform additional duties within the accounting team as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university working toward a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong desire to elevate accounting skills and gain hands-on experience in pursuit of a professional accounting career.
- Familiarity with general accounting principles (GAAP) and payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of organization.
- Demonstrated integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and payroll data.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Previous internship, coursework, or work experience in accounting or a related field is a plus but not required.
