Consolidated Asset Management Services (CAMS) is a leading provider of project, asset management, commercial, and operational services to the power generation, exploration & production (E&P), and midstream sectors of the energy industry. We are seeking a highly motivated Accounting Intern to join our dynamic finance team in Houston, TX. This role offers hands-on experience in corporate accounting, financial analysis, and reporting, providing an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to CAMS’ financial operations. Among other various tasks, the E&P Accounting Intern will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensure proper recording of transactions, and support senior accountants in preparing critical financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements. The intern will also assist in analyzing costs, revenues, and financial commitments to forecast future performance and support strategic decision-making. This position is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028, who is eager to develop practical skills in a fast-paced, professional environment. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.Journal Entries and Reconciliation: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain accurate financial records.End-of-Summer Presentation: Develop and deliver a comprehensive presentation to the CEO and leadership team, summarizing key projects, financial insights, and recommendations based on internship work.Vendor and Payment Coordination: Collaborate with accounts payable and treasury teams to streamline vendor setup, verify payment accuracy, and ensure timely disbursements.Data Analysis and Forecasting: Compile and analyze financial data to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost management initiatives, providing actionable insights to senior accountants and directors.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, such as automating repetitive tasks or improving data entry accuracy, and propose solutions to department leadership.Ad-Hoc Projects: Support the department with special projects, such as financial modeling, variance analysis, or system implementations, as assigned. Qualifications And Skills Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.GPA: Minimum 3.0 GPA (3.5 or higher preferred).Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar). Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus. At a minimum, a basic knowledge of AI tools.Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, to present findings clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to financial record-keeping and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Initiative and Time Management: Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and professionalism.Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.Adaptability: Willingness to take on new challenges and learn emerging accounting tools or technologies. $19 - $22 an hour Why Join CAMS?
