About the Program
Continental Resources’ Summer Internship Program provides meaningful, career-specific experiences with hands-on insight into the oil and gas industry. Interns have the opportunity to be mentored by experienced professionals, network with fellow Continental interns and peers from other companies, gain exposure to various departments within Continental, and present their summer projects to experienced professionals and members of management.
About the Role
The Accounting/Finance Intern will provide support to one of the following departments within Continental’s Accounting/Finance areas: Treasury/Planning; Property Accounting; Joint Interest; Audit; Revenue and Material Control.
Responsibilities
- Process monthly data including inputting, coding, scanning, copying, and distributing reports and information.
- Prepare journal entries with all applicable backup documentation and proposed accounts and cost centers.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
- Analyze and account for all payments for oil and gas sales from operated and non-operated properties.
- Analyze Joint Interest billings for compliance with Joint Operating Agreements and industry guidelines.
- Analyze and account for purchases of services, equipment, and materials used in drilling, completing, and producing oil wells.
- Research, analyze, and resolve disputes with third-party working interest owners, operators, and vendors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a 4-year college or university.
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Eligible to work permanently in the United States upon graduation.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
Skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Proven team player with a strong customer focus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Effective time management.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
