Accounting Consultant - Remote
About the role
UHG Corporate Services Finance and Performance Management is seeking an Accounting Consultant to join our Accounting team. This role focuses on the accuracy of end-to-end lease & capital accounting and involves establishing and maintaining processes.
Responsibilities
- Own the development, maintenance, and delivery of periodic reporting on the overall health of lease accounting processes such as tenant improvement allowances, assessing reasonably assured term, identifying and recording impairments, lease classifications, and variable changes in rent
- Provide governance and oversight of the CoStar lease accounting system, ensuring data integrity, proper controls, adherence to standardized processes, and compliance with accounting standards (ASC 842)
- Review work performed by team members related to lease and capital accounting processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Advise on unique real estate transactions to determine accounting treatment and document the conclusions. Present conclusions to internal UHG customers. Ensure transactions are properly recorded during month end and included in the forecast
- Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepare journal entries, review accounting classifications in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Support the lease accounting reporting requirements for UHG's annual and quarterly filings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- 1+ years of experience with lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Demonstrated experience:
- Solving moderately complex accounting problems
- Researching US GAAP accounting policies and translating the findings into practical application
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations
- Working as a member of a cross-functional team
- Supporting a month-end close process
- Providing customer support in a highly matrixed organization
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to travel to our corporate location once a year for a department meeting/events
Qualifications
- Licensed CPA (or expired CPA) preferred
- Experience with CoStar Lease Accounting software preferred
- Experience with PeopleSoft & Hyperion Essbase preferred
Skills
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
Pay
The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
