Accounting Clerk | Part-Time | Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena (UMBC)

About The Venue
Located on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena opened in February 2018. The 6,000-seat arena is home to the Retriever Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and women’s volleyball. It hosts a variety of events, including commencements, concerts, family shows, trade shows, consumer shows, featured speakers, and banquets.
Responsibilities
- Process AP invoices, including coding, documentation, and routing for approvals.
- Prepare AR billings, send statements, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Prepare bank deposits and assist with recording and reconciling banking activity.
- Provide payroll input, reconciliation, and routine payroll support.
- Process Box Office and ticketing reports and record related transactions.
- Review employee expense reports for documentation and policy compliance.
- Assist with event settlements and related financial transactions.
- Prepare routine journal entries as directed by the Regional Director of Finance.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end close procedures and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with audit requests and supporting schedules.
- Provide onsite Finance support to the General Manager and venue departments during business hours.
- Coordinate with departments to obtain approvals and documentation.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and assist with invoice/payment issues.
- Assist with accounting for in-house food and beverage operations.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1-2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial experience preferred.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Ability to handle cash and financial transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Knowledge of NetSuite, Coupa, and ADP preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently onsite while collaborating with a Regional Director of Finance who may be based elsewhere.
Pay
This part-time role pays an hourly rate of $19.45–$24.31.
Schedule
Approximately 30 hours per week during regular business hours.
