Accounting Clerk - Modesto, CA

About the role

Silgan Containers is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our Modesto, CA, plant to support accounts payable, inventory management, and month-end closing functions.

Responsibilities

• Inventory & Production Management: Input and audit production data, inventory adjustments, and cycle counts in ERP; explain variances and train personnel on proper procedures.
• Accounting Support: Assist with monthly close tasks, prepare journal entries, generate reports, and complete reconciliations under US GAAP and SOX controls.
• Administrative & Transaction Processing: Handle customer invoicing, accounts payable, special projects, and routine clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, and document management.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Interact with various departments to gather accounting data, resolve issues, and ensure accuracy across processes.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 Years Of accounting Experience, Preferred In Manufacturing Environment
• Excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills.
• Proficiency in using ERP software such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods as needed.
