An Accounting Clerk performs general accounting functions as directed by the Controller, participates in accounting and quality audits, assists the purchasing department, and completes additional duties as requested.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.
- Assist in the processing of all accounts payables and receivables.
- Provide assistance to the VP Finance and Controller in planning, budgeting, and forecasting of operational results.
- Validate accuracy of account numbers.
- Audit vendor bills for accuracy and comparison to budget.
- Process bills using accounting Solomon software and Excel spreadsheets.
- Assist in the preparation of employee payroll.
- Assist in reconciling and balancing the General Ledger accounts.
- Assist in posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
- Maintain the accuracy of Accounts Payable vendor files.
- Input customer payments into Solomon ensuring proper payment of invoices.
- Maintain the accuracy of Accounts Receivable vendor files.
- Assist the VP Finance and Controller in participating in internal audits within the company and inventory control.
- Assist the VP Finance and Controller in the preparation of materials for the Company’s Board and Audit Committee as needed.
- Assist in the monthly close process as directed by the company Controller.
- Responsible for entry of approved purchase requests into ERP purchasing module.
- Responsible for vendor master record entry and maintenance in the system.
- Perform item master validation and pricing verification on purchase requests.
- Communicate purchase orders to suppliers in approved formats.
- Responsible for timely management of online purchasing with approved suppliers.
- Work under the direction of the Purchasing Manager to resolve supplier delivery problems and facilitate open lines of communication between suppliers and internal parties.
- Maintain and provide sales-tax exemption certificates as needed, in conjunction with the Controller.
- Resolve quantity and invoice discrepancies with suppliers under the direction of the Purchasing Manager and the Accounts Payable Office.
- Receive incoming calls in a professional manner and properly redirect them to the appropriate employee.
- Greet all visitors and customers, and announce their arrival to the appropriate person.
- Provide visitors with a visitor badge and maintain sign-in records.
- Receive, distribute, and collect incoming/outgoing mail.
- Hand out employment applications to candidates upon request.
- Audit and order necessary office supplies.
- Organize and set up all company lunch meetings as requested.
- Prepare materials for various company meetings, including meetings of the Board of Directors.
- Maintain the accuracy of the President’s calendar.
- Provide administrative support to all departments as requested.
- Perform other duties as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in an office environment.
- Experience in ERP systems preferred.
- Minimum of Associate Degree and/or equivalent.
- Proficient in computer software products, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Work Environment
Work will be primarily performed in an office setting, but some time will be spent in a light industrial facility.
Pay
Hourly salary range: $25/hr - $32/hr. Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
