About the Role
The Accounting Clerk (Accounts Receivable) handles all billing, payment collection, and data management in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Prior bookkeeping experience preferred
- Prior billing in a health-care setting preferred
- Data entry experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Knowledge of administration practices, procedures, and relevant laws/regulations in post-acute care
- Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Proficiency in cash receipts, billing, business office support, patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with associates, vendors, etc.
- Commitment to confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information
- Adherence to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
- Integrity and professionalism in line with Life Care’s Code of Conduct
- Completion of mandatory Code of Conduct and compliance training
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit all billing (e.g., Medicare A & B, private insurance) accurately and on time
- Record cash receipts accurately and timely
- Prepare bank deposits accurately
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude toward patients
- Assist in patient evacuations as needed
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Use reasoning skills, good judgment, and effective communication on an interdisciplinary team
- Perform physical tasks intermittently during working hours, including sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, and reaching
- Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Lift 20 lbs from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, carry 20 lbs, and push/pull 20 lbs
