About the Role
To support our rapid growth, we are seeking an Accounting Associate for our corporate office in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Asset Accounting and focuses on month-end close processes and monthly/quarterly reimbursement submissions to lenders.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close duties, including:
- Lender escrow analysis and prepaid/accrued expense analysis
- Balance Sheet audit and adjusting/reclass journal entries
- Bank reconciliation for operating, savings, and entity accounts
- Management fee calculation and invoicing
- General Ledger and Operating Statement review and adjusting/reclass journal entries
- Submit monthly and quarterly reimbursements to lenders
- Complete other tasks as assigned by management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent years of experience
- General accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Ability to provide and receive critical feedback
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to efficiently use email, phone, fax, scan, and mail
- Willingness to work long hours to meet deadlines (e.g., month-end close week)
- Prior experience with bookkeeping duties
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods
- Sensitivity to confidential matters and information
- Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines
Skills
- Efficient, accurate, and timely work (key themes of our department)
- Self-starter with strong initiative
- Structured, organized, and capable of fulfilling a wide range of responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication within the organization
- Real estate background and understanding of loan documents (a plus)
