Accounting Associate-Allocations
The Claims Conference has an opening for an Accounting Associate on the RED team within the Allocations Department. This is a hybrid role that requires two days in the office in Manhattan.
About the role
The Claims Conference secures material compensation for Holocaust survivors around the world. Founded in 1951 by representatives of 23 major international Jewish organizations, the Claims Conference negotiates for and disburses funds to individual survivors and organizations and seeks the return of Jewish property stolen during the Holocaust. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing grant program budgets
- Reviewing and analyzing grant reports and payment requests to ensure accuracy and budgetary compliance
- Analyzing and converting expenses in multiple currencies and languages
- Using formulas and pivot tables in Excel to analyze budget and expense reports
- Communicating effectively
- Completing other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong quantitative skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or equivalent work experience
- Microsoft Office skills including experience analyzing data in Excel and the creation/formation of spreadsheets
- Strong time management, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent English written and verbal skills
- Knowledge in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred

Pay
Our target salary range for Accounting Associate in the New York City market is $58,000-$60,000. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
