About the role

We are seeking an Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager to support one of the Federal government’s largest agencies, specifically the Department of the Navy (DON). This role involves audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and accounting in accordance with GAAP, Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day research, analysis, and communication at the direction of the Kearney & Company Team Lead and client.
  • Utilize data analysis technology to analyze financial information and provide reporting and remediation solutions.
  • Support the review of draft and new Notifications of Findings and Recommendations (NFR), including assessing accuracy, identifying root causes, documenting investigations, and providing recommendations to modify findings or develop corrective action plans (CAP).
  • Review and update CAPs for open and reissued NFRs, developing actionable milestones aligned with the Audit Roadmap.
  • Draft and update communication artifacts such as Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, and whitepapers.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and work effectively in high-pressure situations with short deadlines.
  • Direct and review the work of Senior Associates.
  • Communicate the status of project-related tasks to the Team Lead and client.

Requirements

  • BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive, relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Minimum 2-3 days per week on-site requirement.
  • Active Interim Secret Clearance (or higher, such as Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI) — requires U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with the Federal Government and/or Department of Navy (DoN) clients.
  • Experience in federal/DoD financial statement auditing, audit remediation, and audit readiness.
  • Experience with financial reporting processes, financial statement compilation, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Experience researching and applying FASAB, OMB, and Treasury requirements, including OMB Circular A-136 and the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM).
  • Experience with DFAS reporting policy and procedures.
  • One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, or CDFM.
  • Proficient skills in MS Excel.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Oracle, ACL Analytics, PowerBI, and/or Access databases.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $140,000 (base pay only). Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses when applicable.
