Job Title: Staff Accountant Department: Finance & Accounting Job Title Reporting to: Accounting Manager Primary Purpose & Value Of The Department & Position Finance Shared Services maintains key transactional processes for the company while keeping a customer-centric attitude. The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting the broader finance function. Their work ensures that the department can deliver reliable financial information to management and comply with accounting standards. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accrualsComplete reconciliations in accordance with company policyMaintain general ledger accounts or fixed asset ledger accountsMaintain accurate coding of accounts and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulationsProvide timely and accurate reportingAssist in the implementation of new systems and accounting standardsSupport audits by providing necessary documentation and account information and tax workpapers as assignedManage other aspects of Shared Services functions (Sales Tax, Property Tax, Insurance, Licensing’s, Expense reporting, Cash, etc.) Key Relationships Critical to the success of this role is the ability to deliver outcomes through productive relationships with others include: BlueScope North America team membersFinance team membersInternal customersExternal and internal auditorsTaxing authoritiesBank contact Minimum: Education & Experience Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field1-3 years of relevant accounting experience Preferred: 3+ years of experience in an accounting role Construction and Manufacturing experience Experience with large ERP system, preferable SAP Skills & Competencies Action orientedOrganizational agilityDrive for resultsProblem solvingProficient in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelInterpersonal savvyExemplary customer serviceA positive attitude and self-drivenStrong attention to detailAbility to prioritize tasks Base Salary range starting at $77,800 - 95,200, plus additional benefits, bonus and perks.
