Accountant Supervisor
About the Role
The Office of Administration, Division of Accounting, seeks a qualified professional for the Financial Unit Supervisor position. This is a temporary, full-time, benefit-eligible role due to the implementation of the MOVERS project, with funding ending no later than July 2027.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of SAM II, MissouriBUYS, and MOVERS suppliers, customer files, and chart of accounts.
- Provide supervision and leadership to the Financial Unit staff of 13 FTE.
- Work closely with OA–Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) and system contractors on system testing, program enhancements, and general system functionality for SAM II, MissouriBUYS, and MOVERS.
- Establish and enforce workplace policies and procedures within the Financial Unit.
- Monitor and adjust workloads to maintain balance, high productivity, and efficient workflow.
- Provide customer service support for SAM II, MissouriBUYS, and MOVERS to state agency personnel, suppliers, and customers regarding document processing, system functionality, payments, and general inquiries.
- Distribute checks to state agency personnel, resolve payment issues with financial institutions and/or the State Treasurer’s Office, and maintain adequate check stock.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships, remain flexible, self-motivated, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead, educate, and motivate staff.
- Considerable knowledge of and experience with SAM II Financial System (online, data warehouse, and MOBIUS reports).
- Considerable knowledge of and experience with MissouriBUYS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Knowledge of Governmental Accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to develop new methods and procedures to meet changing needs.
- Knowledge of the state’s organizational structure and business conduct requirements.
- Ability to formulate and initiate plans for effective fiscal controls.
- Ability to apply general accounting, auditing, and purchasing concepts to specific problems.
- Ability to analyze policies, evaluate operations, and formulate recommendations.
