About the role

The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting, financial, and earned income information by recording, verifying, consolidating, entering transactions, and reporting. This role analyzes and interprets numerical data, performs financial analyses, and prepares accurate reports within established guidelines to guide management decision-making. The position involves problem-solving accounting practices and processes, requiring judgment for complex situations, and demonstrating a thorough understanding of finance, economics, and GAAP.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record accounting entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain the integrity of accounts by verifying, allocating, reconciling, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Summarize and prepare financial status and close-out reports by collecting and verifying information.
  • Prepare month-end reports for the field to explain results.
  • Log cash as required and assist in analyzing aged receivables.
  • Prepare accurate earned income reports to guide management decision-making.
  • Reconcile GL accounts and analyze, reconcile, or review various marketing and earned income accounts at each period-end.
  • Monitor marketing show promotion expenses and prepare earned income packages, including reserves analysis at period-end.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and spreadsheets (standard to complex) for management and customers as requested.
  • Comply with legal requirements and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 standards to avoid legal challenges.
  • Interact with corporate and external audits and assist in auditing internal processes.
  • Protect and secure the company’s confidential financial information.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to resolve issues with accounting, financial, and earned income workflows and systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of general accounting or other relevant experience in a high-volume transaction environment.
  • Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial information.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a changing environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under and meet strict deadlines individually and in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.

Pay

$85,000 annually
