Accountant - Project Cost Accounting
About the role
The Plante Moran Realpoint team is seeking an experienced Project Cost Accountant to join our team. This position involves recording, reporting, and tracking real-time costs for our construction projects, collaborating closely with project managers, clients, contractors, and construction managers.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile and balance project-related accounts
- Develop cash flow and cost-to-complete reports
- Verify change orders and payment requests against contract requirements
- Track essential project documentation, such as bonds and insurance certificates
- Review and apply contract requirements
- Maintain the project's PMIS (e.g., e-Builder) to enable internal and external clients to monitor project status and financials
- Document accounting processes and procedures, as well as project governance
- Review AIA payment applications
- Engage and collaborate with the client and project team to identify and resolve issues
- Periodically visit project and client sites to provide client updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business administration (preferably accounting)
- 3+ years accounting experience including experience with budgeting and cash flow management
- Industry experience with commercial real estate (Real Estate Broker, Lending Office, Internal Real Estate Department) is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability for numeric analysis, contract comprehension, issue resolution, and collaboration in a team environment

Pay
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00
Schedule
This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week.
