Accountant/Financial Analyst

About the role

The Accountant/Financial Analyst position is within the Accounting department at Widener University. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role supports the Administration and Finance division.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, manage, and reconcile the University’s treasury activity.
• Communicate information to appropriate departments, research transactions and variances, and record journal entries.
• Aid in preparing entries, reconciliations, and analysis for monthly and annual close.
• Act as a subject matter expert for various financial statement line items.
• Reconcile to sub-ledger and provide explanations for variances.
• Prepare various financial reports and regulatory reporting for the University and its affiliates.
• Identify, propose, and collaborate on implementing process improvements to streamline routine activities.
• Assist with employer-related tax reporting and compliance.
• Analyze employer and employee withholding tax liability accounts.
• Affirmation of annual 1098T’s.
• Solve problems, perform data queries, and extract data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at multi-tasking.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel including advanced functions.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and within deadlines.
• Ability to work in a hybrid work environment.
