Accountant / Financial Analyst

About the Role
Prepares financial related analyses and research to support and facilitate timely management decisions and/or financial reports or statements. Performs tasks necessary to ensure data integrity within the financial systems. Analyzes and evaluates financial impact of various decisions or transactions on financial results. Interacts with other departments and management to provide timely follow-up to inquiries and requests for financial data. Interprets results and provides recommendations for appropriate action plans. Develops and maintains complex financial models. Prepares and presents written and oral reports/documents. Provides support for internal and external auditors by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and implementing recommended changes. Coordinates, tests, and documents system changes or upgrades. Represents finance on corporate teams and initiatives. Develops and maintains job documentation and procedures.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Experience preparing financial reports
- Experience using automated accounting and/or management reporting systems
- Experience preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial or statistical data
- Proficiency in developing workpapers, schedules, and models using spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel)
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Strong research and analytical skills for complex financial data
- Problem-solving and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and participate on project teams
- Willingness to work irregular or extended hours as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance industry and concepts
- Experience with premium taxes, sales/use taxes, property taxes, or 1099 reporting
- Familiarity with Workday financial reporting system or Office Connect
- Understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws
- Experience working within a corporate tax department or CPA firm
- Experience preparing sales and use tax returns and analyzing related data
- Experience preparing property tax returns and assisting in audits
- Experience analyzing 1099 data and preparation
- Experience preparing premium tax returns and estimates
- Experience developing spreadsheets, work papers, and using Microsoft Office or Office Connect
- Experience performing tax research
- Experience preparing corporate and state income tax returns
- Experience completing income tax work papers for provisions and returns
- Experience utilizing corporate income tax return preparation software
Work Environment
This position works from a home office location. Depending on the role, some employees may be required to come into the office, at a minimum, for important departmental meetings or team-building events.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm
Pay
Competitive salary of $70,000 - $85,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance.
