About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist with 2–4 years of experience in the construction industry to support project accounting and billing operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AIA billing, contract invoicing, lien waivers, and working closely with project managers to ensure accurate and timely billing for construction projects. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and a solid understanding of construction accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process monthly progress billings, including AIA G702/G703 forms
- Review contracts, schedules of values, and billing requirements for accuracy and compliance
- Track and manage project billing statuses, retainage, and change orders
- Coordinate with project managers and accounting staff to ensure timely submission of invoices
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for owner billings
- Monitor collections and assist with accounts receivable follow-up as needed
- Process lien waivers, certified payroll documentation, and related project paperwork
- Reconcile billing discrepancies and resolve client invoicing issues
- Maintain organized billing records and documentation for multiple active projects
- Assist with month-end close activities related to project billing and receivables
- Ensure compliance with company policies and contract requirements
Requirements
- 2–4 years of billing experience within the construction industry
- Strong experience with AIA billing and construction contract invoicing
- Familiarity with schedules of values, retainage, change orders, and lien waivers
- Knowledge of construction accounting principles and project-based billing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP software
- Experience with systems such as Sage, Viewpoint, CMiC, Procore, or similar platforms is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, or commercial construction firms
- Understanding of compliance documentation and project closeout processes
Pay
$60,000 - $75,500 per year
