Accountant - Central Specialty Pet (Hybrid)

Description

The Accountant supports the financial operations of the Central Avian and C&S teams and serves as an integral member of the Finance organization. This role is responsible for general ledger activities and month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with both internal and external financial reporting.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and support for non-recurring or technically complex accounting transactions.
• Perform account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions.
• Record fixed asset additions and retirements in the fixed asset module. Coordinate and oversee periodic physical inventories of fixed assets.
• Routinely Route CARs, establish Internal Orders, and track job/project costs for construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts; collaborate with Project Managers to resolve spending-related questions.
• Maintain lease tracking.
• Prepare monthly financial statements along with supporting analyses, schedules, and management reports.
• Advise management on process improvements and/or alternative accounting treatment.
• Complete special projects and ad-hoc analyses as assigned by management.
• Provide support during external audits and SOX compliance reviews.
• Absorb and implement new accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
