Door X Garage Services is a local, trades-based business specializing in commercial and strata overhead doors. We have a growing team of technicians and need an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of our day-to-day finance function.
About The Role
This is a hands-on role for someone with experience in small or medium-sized businesses who enjoys managing the full accounting cycle. You will ensure accurate bookkeeping, prepare monthly financial statements, and work closely with the owners to support planning and business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries and month-end closing.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensure timely invoicing, payment processing and collections.
- Reconcile bank and credit-card statements and balance sub-ledgers.
- Prepare trial balances and monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate payroll, source deductions and government remittances; prepare GST/HST filings and assist with year-end tax preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, depreciation schedules and inventory.
- Monitor cash flow, assist with budgeting and cost analysis for jobs and contracts.
- Liaise with external accountants/auditors and support them with requested documentation.
- Implement and improve accounting processes; ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a small/medium-sized business.
- Diploma or certificate in accounting, finance or bookkeeping; CPA or progress toward designation is an asset.
- Proficient with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage or comparable cloud-based systems) and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting principles, payroll rules and tax remittances.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with non-finance colleagues.
Pay
CA$65,000–CA$85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time position based in Vancouver.
