Account Representative

About the Role

This position is responsible for handling a large volume of utility bills, including mailing and receiving payments, data entry, addressing customer complaints, and routine inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Process and mail water bills
• Receive and record payments
• Perform data entry for billing records
• Respond to customer complaints and inquiries
• Follow well-defined clerical procedures under the review of the Utility Billing Supervisor

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Any combination of training and experience providing knowledge of modern office clerical procedures
• Previous experience in cashier work and computer data entry
• Attendance is an essential job function

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of computer data entry, filing, ten-key, and basic accounting
• Familiarity with city and street directions
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate clearly via radio
• Ability to sit, stand, or remain in a confined space for extended periods
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift as required
• Proficiency in reading and writing English
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers

Physical Demands

• Sedentary work requiring the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
• Frequent or constant use of fingers, hands, and arms for data entry and other tasks
• Ability to hear, speak, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions
• Visual acuity for reading and data entry
• Mental acuity for processing information and assisting customers

Pay

Starting salary for this position is $20.170 per hour.

Must pass a background check, pre-employment substance abuse screening, and a job-related physical exam as conditions of employment. Motor vehicle record checks may also be required. Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
