Account Manager, Strategic Global Customers
About the role
The Global Strategic Account Manager is responsible for maintaining deep customer relationships to drive account revenue retention and growth. This role covers our largest global clients, aligned to the company’s strategy and supporting global directives. The position will manage a defined global book of business and be accountable for the commercial close of all deals, as well as opening larger solution opportunities and introducing Solution and Proposition Sales.
By collaborating with internal partners, the Strategic Global Account Manager delivers exceptional service and valuable solutions while driving a high-performance culture within the Americas region.
Responsibilities
- Achieve sales goals, business development, and strategic account planning for Refinitiv’s most prominent strategic accounts.
- Demonstrate accountability for the retention and growth of a multi-million-dollar book of business.
- Grow Refinitiv revenue and market share at high-value, complex designated accounts to meet strategic objectives.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer decision-makers’ strategies, priorities, and needs.
- Maintain a solid understanding of Refinitiv propositions to initiate conversations and raise interest.
- Build and embed long-term trusted advisor relationships within accounts.
- Drive growth by expanding Refinitiv’s footprint within accounts.
- Focus on maintaining overall customer engagement and expanding and retaining managed net revenue.
- Oversee all commercial activities within accounts, owning the end-to-end customer relationship.
- Drive efficiency in account administration, particularly for lower-value and growth-potential accounts.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders and maintain networks to negotiate and close deals.
- Accountable for simple order-taking and emerging/growth account models.
- For Growth accounts: manage a defined book proactively; for Emerging accounts: manage a pooled book reactively.
- All Account Managers in Emerging and Growth are responsible for revenue retention (primarily), sales, and administration of their accounts.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of customers, their business models, and workflows.
- Industry experience within the customer segment.
- Strong product knowledge and relationship-building skills.
- Consultative selling skills: ability to identify, develop, and articulate complex propositions.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and execute a sales plan and use technology proficiently.
- Problem-solving skills: ability to understand, articulate, structure, and solve client needs.
- Presentation and communication skills: ability to deliver presentations and communicate at all organizational levels.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with account teams.
Qualifications
- University/college degree may be required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Significant work experience in an applicable industry and knowledge of customer workflow.
- Proven account management, sales, or marketing experience in a customer-facing environment.
- Customer relationship management experience at all organizational levels.
- Preferred: 3–5 years’ experience covering global accounts.
- Career stage: Manager.
Pay
The anticipated base salary for this position is $141,000–$235,000, with variations by geographic location, city, and state. This role is eligible for a Variable Incentive Compensation plan, with target variable compensation commensurate with the posted career stage. Individual salary reflects job-related knowledge, skills, and equivalent experience.
