Account Manager, Public Relations (B2B Technology)
About the role
Account Managers on our B2B Technology team lead integrated communications programs that elevate some of the most innovative brands in enterprise technology. They manage client relationships and drive strategic initiatives across areas such as enterprise software, cloud, security, data, and AI.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead comprehensive media and analyst relations strategies for B2B technology clients across enterprise, cloud, security, AI, and fintech sectors.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key business, trade, and technology media outlets and industry influencers.
- Guide teams in building and maintaining media lists, identifying relevant opportunities, and crafting compelling story angles.
- Strategically use social media platforms to amplify earned media, engage key audiences, and enhance client visibility.
- Demonstrate experience measuring ROI and impact of media and influencer engagement programs.
- Identify opportunities for thought leadership through contributed content, speaking engagements, and analyst briefings.
- Serve as the day-to-day client contact, managing programs from kickoff through goal achievement.
- Develop strategic communications plans that drive awareness, credibility, and pipeline impact for B2B technology brands.
- Set ambitious yet achievable goals based on news generation, thought leadership, and sustained coverage.
- Provide proactive strategic counsel to clients, anticipating needs and managing through challenges or change.
- Lead client meetings, media training sessions, and message development workshops.
- Oversee budgets, staffing plans, and deliverables, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to expand account scope and grow client partnerships.
- Develop and oversee the creation of core communications materials, including press releases, bylined articles, messaging frameworks, award submissions, and briefing books.
- Craft strategic, creative, and persuasive pitches that secure top-tier media coverage.
- Produce content that articulates complex B2B technology concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Review and edit team materials to ensure excellence and consistency in tone, accuracy, and brand alignment.
- Communicate professionally, clearly, and proactively with clients and team members.
- Manage 2+ direct reports, setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and professional growth.
- Support new business initiatives by identifying prospective clients, contributing to pitch development, and participating in presentations.
- Represent Highwire at industry and networking events, building visibility and relationships in the B2B tech community.
- Model professionalism, enthusiasm, and respect in all client and colleague interactions.
- Contribute to Highwire's thought leadership through blog posts, social media engagement, and internal initiatives.
Requirements
5+ years of PR, communications, or marketing experience in an agency environment (required)
Experience working with B2B technology clients (required) — including enterprise software, cloud, data, or AI
Established relationships with business, trade, and technology media and analysts
Proven ability to develop and lead integrated communications programs that deliver measurable business outcomes
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Strong project management and multitasking abilities across multiple client accounts
Experience managing and mentoring junior staff
Demonstrated success in building trusted client relationships and managing complex client dynamics
Proactive, collaborative, and resourceful problem-solver with a passion for technology and innovation
Qualifications
Advanced degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field preferred
Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously
Experience with B2B technology and industry-specific terminology
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000, with the final offer based on a combination of factors, including education, relevant experience, skills, prior training, internal equity, and local geographic market data.

Location & Work Environment
Highwire offers both remote and hybrid work options, depending on where you live. Hybrid: Candidates located within commuting distance of our New York, NY or San Francisco, CA offices follow a hybrid schedule, with three in-office days per week.
