About the Role
This position is accountable for managing and establishing relationships with current and future retailers in assigned territory to ensure the successful sale and volume growth by increasing the availability and visibility of our brands through customer relations and service, quality control, proper merchandising, and promotions. The role also involves developing outstanding internal and external customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Conduct sales calls on all assigned accounts following the proper schedule and sequence.
- Sell in new brands or packages as directed by management or brewery representatives.
- Use Encompass sales history as a selling tool and submit orders through Encompass by 5:00 PM daily.
- Request additional placements, displays, signs, or statics on every sales call to improve product visibility.
- Track sales to ensure ample product availability, avoiding out-of-stocks, hotshots, or overstocks.
- Manage hotshots for out-of-stock products and ensure payment unless the account is on a prepaid system.
- Communicate daily with delivery and merchandising departments using Encompass to meet account needs.
- Manage and sell displays and sign placements to increase sales and distribution.
- Ensure all displays include applicable/seasonal POS and correct pricing.
- Secure primary end-cap/location for advertised specials within accounts.
- Monitor competitive activity and report any issues affecting sales or positioning.
- Track and participate in weekly or monthly incentives to gain new sales and placements.
- Handle out-of-date products and breakage, pulling close-dated products for return or re-delivery.
- Document plans to ensure completion of monthly goals and incentives.
- Meet product quotas and distribution goals to promote overall business and measure performance.
- Stay updated on product promotions, supplier policies, and sales techniques through meetings and training.
- Assist in training merchandisers, route drivers, or assistants and complete performance evaluations.
- Work with low-volume accounts to attain minimum orders and increase sales.
- Meet with store owners/managers to address orders and issues, demonstrating a sincere interest in their success.
- Maintain a positive attitude about fellow employees when interacting with retailers.
- Manage inventory levels, alerting management to fluctuations in demand.
- Ensure brand visibility by maintaining account standards and using effective POS materials.
- Support account openings by placing opening orders in collaboration with the Sales Manager.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly sales meetings.
- Manage sign turnover and pickup in a timely manner.
- Check chain accounts for mandates and promotions to ensure proper quantities are ordered.
- Execute corporate price features/promotions per supplier mandates.
- Target specific accounts using daily goals worksheets to accomplish monthly goals.
- Ensure proper stock rotation in all assigned accounts.
- Work special events as needed.
- Track and update all account listings.
- Turn in promotion schedules and recaps monthly.
- Stay within the P Card monthly balance unless approved by the Sales Manager.
- Visit Class B accounts to gain new business where applicable.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Attend company meetings as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Understanding of the alcoholic beverage industry.
- Ability to work with computer programs associated with the position.
- Results-oriented professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization, organize, prioritize, negotiate, manage, motivate others, and solve problems.
- Multi-tasking, working independently and/or within a team, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
- Highly professional with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Decision-making, thoroughness, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of geographic areas and familiarity with the assigned territory.
- Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable MVR.
- Automobile insurance per company policy.
- Valid TABC License.
- Pass background and drug screens.
