About the role
Our client is seeking a grain operations leader based in the Midwest USA to help grow their grain facility automation solutions business. This position combines grain operations expertise, business development, technical expertise, and product collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance on grain automation and software through opportunity evaluation, customer discovery, and solution development for grain cooperatives, commercial grain facilities, and agricultural operations
- Participate in agricultural trade events, industry exhibitions, and association meetings to strengthen market presence and develop customer relationships
- Gather operational feedback from grain customers and communicate product needs to internal engineering and development teams
- Contribute to product planning, evaluation, and validation activities to help ensure functionality aligns with customer expectations
- Assist with pilot customer deployments by offering onsite support and relaying user feedback to internal teams
- Monitor market activity, competitor solutions, and industry developments to support product direction and positioning
- Develop an initial market evaluation and sales pipeline identifying priority opportunities throughout the assigned region
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in the grain industry involving operations, software platforms, or technology-based facility processes
- Working knowledge of grain facility operations, including receiving systems, bulk weighing equipment, facility controls, accounting system integration, and grain contracting processes
- Strong technical aptitude with an interest in automation and software applications for grain operations; experience with programmable control systems or scale management software is preferred
- Excellent communication and relationship development skills with the ability to engage executive leadership and facility personnel
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while helping build a growing business segment
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural systems technology, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered
