About the Role

The Account Manager is responsible for positioning and selling the Pacira portfolio within an assigned territory. This includes pharmacological and technical knowledge of Pacira’s products, as well as effectively communicating their value proposition. The Account Manager will work with the Regional Director to develop and execute a business plan aimed at exceeding defined sales revenue targets. The role requires leveraging product expertise, institutional relationships, and business acumen to meet and exceed sales objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Identify target markets in accordance with organizational strategy using existing reporting, tools, and dashboards.
  • Ensure corporate revenue objectives are exceeded within a specified geography.
  • Work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff focused on pain management to drive adoption of Pacira’s portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in all Pacira products.
  • Manage time effectively to increase sales productivity and implement tactical sales activities to achieve business objectives.
  • Actively participate with the Regional Director in strategic and tactical planning.
  • Update and document sales account information via Veeva software system.
  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge of the conversion process within hospitals, ASCs, and offices.
  • Develop and execute sales and retention strategies for target markets and customers.
  • Conduct face-to-face sales meetings with physicians, schedulers, practice managers, and medical staff to close business and address obstacles.
  • Manage territory through office visits, including education on services, enhancements, and new advances.
  • Communicate opportunities, market trends, and challenges to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and present opportunities, trends, and challenges to gain support and commitment from leadership.
  • Manage expense budgets in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated with the latest clinical data supplied by the company and present it to healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct selling experience to hospitals and healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device, or healthcare industry.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience selling in the OR preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to complete Hospital Credentialing requirements in a timely manner.
  • Experience using Customer Resource Management (CRM) tools.
  • Able to travel extensively; valid driver’s license and safe driving record required; reliable transportation.
  • Must live in or close proximity to the designated geographic territory.
  • Knowledge of key industry business drivers, emerging medical trends, and performance metrics.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, collaborative, and analytical skills with a customer focus.
  • Independently motivated and driven to achieve high goals and seek continuous improvement.
  • Competencies in sales efficiency, goal setting, prospecting, networking, and territory management.
  • Skills in account management, needs assessment, value propositioning, handling objections, and gaining agreement with physicians and procurement departments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, relevant mobile technology, and web-based applications.
  • Ability to travel overnight and locally up to 90% of the time, including corporate meetings.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to travel by automobile, airplane, and other forms of public transportation.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand for long periods (up to several hours).
  • Required to move quickly and safely in OR and other healthcare environments.

Work Environment

The work setting includes a typical corporate environment (offices and cubicles) as well as healthcare facilities such as hospitals, medical centers, and ambulatory care centers. The role also involves public spaces like conferences, professional meetings, and B2B accounts.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $112,000 - $130,000 per year. The range considers factors such as geographic markets, business needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications. Depending on the position, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered.
