About the Role
The Account Manager serves as the liaison between the facility, the community, and referring agencies, creating demand for the facility’s services through ethical marketing principles and sales methods. This role leads targeted outreach and business development efforts for Outpatient (OP) services, aligned with the growth needs of assigned facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in outpatient mental health and/or behavioral health, with a strong understanding of referral development within these settings. Candidates must reside in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
Responsibilities
- Act as liaison between the facility and referral sources, implementing service-oriented action plans responsive to referral source needs.
- Serve as a resource and representative to the community, conducting facility tours for key stakeholders.
- Assess, develop, and implement sales activities to achieve maximum market penetration among assigned accounts and identify potential accounts in targeted market segments.
- Develop and communicate appropriate sales messaging for each program offered and for each target audience.
- Monitor referral inquiries and admissions statistics daily.
- Conduct ongoing analysis to ensure the appropriateness and effectiveness of weekly sales action plans.
- Identify and build a strategic sales plan for existing and potential referral sources within assigned territory and target markets.
- Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with existing referral sources and identify additional referral sources.
- Maintain documentation of assigned top accounts, key contacts, planning reports, client profiles, competitive profiles, and updates as required by the Director of Business Development.
- Complete all required reports and requests for information in a timely manner.
- Maintain current awareness of industry trends and anticipate changes or trends in the target market, utilizing this information to modify sales action plans.
- Provide recommendations to overall business development planning strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date information in MedSeries 4/MIDAS/MEDIK, including documentation of daily contacts and accurate account information.
- Display proficiency in utilizing proprietary reports to appropriately plan sales activity.
- Facilitate positive, timely, and accurate communication, encouraging cooperation and problem-solving to build relationships among the facility, referral sources, patients, families, and the community.
- Attend and actively participate in Business Development team meetings, providing marketing reports, updates, and Service Recovery opportunities.
- Participate in off-hours sales and community activities as required by the Director of Business Development and facility needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
- 3-5 years of related work experience required; 5-8 years preferred.
- Must possess demonstrated business development concepts and sales abilities.
- Knowledge of and skills in the application of marketing and sales principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Competency in computer usage and Microsoft Office suite.
- 80-90% local travel required.
- Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with referral partners, including physicians' offices, telepsychiatry providers, private practices, and other behavioral health organizations, is highly preferred.
