Mission Statement
The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. Together our courts and probation departments are committed to impartial and timely dispute resolution; support for families, litigants, and victims; client rehabilitation; and meaningful community engagement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
- Maintains and balances accounting ledgers.
- Performs bank reconciliation of the courts’ financial transactions with the case management system.
- Maintains fiscal accounts, journals, ledgers and other financial records and reports.
- Monitors transactions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Investigates various financial exception reports and summaries to identify action required to adhere to fiscal rules and procedures.
- Provides customer service by responding timely to inquiries from court staff, agency stakeholders, other department personnel, and the public.
- Serves as the first point of contact for questions and issues related to financial transactions in the district or department.
- Resolves difficult and technical financial problems.
- Disburses routine and ad hoc registry checks for bonds, restitution, overpayment, revenue, and Victim’s Compensation and Assistance.
- Processes outstanding, stale dated, and returned checks.
- Prepares weekly and monthly financial reports for the District and the Financial Services division.
- Develops and maintains record keeping procedures in accordance with legal, fiscal, and departmental regulations.
- Maintains financial records for audit purposes.
- Formulates district responses to audit requests.
- Trains staff per auditors’ recommendations.
- Provides financial accounting information to the public, banks, and employees of the court and related agencies.
- Completes required trainings and attend meetings as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills
- Fiscal Responsibility: May be responsible for the billing, collection and/or accounting of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Equivalency: High School diploma or G.E.D. OR Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.
- Work Related Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or similar field.
- Licenses And Certifications: None.
Physical Effort Requirements
Satisfactory - Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.
