Accompanist (Part-Time)
About the role
AMDA, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, in the heart of New York City, is one of the foremost performing arts conservatories in the country with a sister campus in Hollywood. AMDA offers multiple programs from numerous two- and three-year conservatory programs and degree programs in Musical Theatre, Acting, and Dance. AMDA differentiates itself from other performing arts colleges by having students learn from working faculty and accompanists. AMDA is seeking part-time Piano Accompanists with outstanding professional experience, specializing in the Musical Theatre canon; experience in Classical Repertoire, Pop/Rock, Blues is a plus. Applicants should have experience accompanying individuals as well as group ensembles. Applicants must be proficient sight-readers. Ability to transpose on sight is preferred but not necessarily required. Applicants should be strongly committed to providing support in an educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Accompany individuals and group ensembles in classes and other educational settings
- Sight-read musical material and support students and faculty during instruction
- Contribute to a professional, supportive classroom environment
