Accompanist
About the role
Provides musical accompaniment to other musicians and to singers.
Major responsibilities & duties
- Accompanies music for practices and performances.
- Plays an instrument to accompany new and traditional vocal and instrumental music.
- Consults with teachers and conductors to choose appropriate music.
- Participates in music rehearsals and performances.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Ability to read and play traditional and contemporary music for a variety of conductors and soloists.
- Knowledge of the subject matter.
- Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
Required qualifications
- Previous accompanist experience required.
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Prior experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
