Responsibilities
- Responsible for shift task assignment in Access to ensure the optimal utilization of staff resources to maximize use of available bed capacity for Towson and Baltimore Washington acute care inpatient psychiatric beds.
- Under the supervision of the Manager of Access, functions as the shift communication point between bed manager, screening provider, and access coordinators.
- Aids the Manager of Access with the orientation of new Access Coordinators.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field of study.
- Requires one to two years progressively more responsible experience in an access/admissions or related setting.
- Computer skills competency in email/Word/Excel.
- Knowledge of IDX and Sunrise is a plus.
- Requires multi-tasking and ability to set priorities.
- Requires substantial interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Health System staff, referral sources, and occasionally with patient/families, sometimes under stressful circumstances (75-90% of work time).
- Requires analytical skills sufficient to assess the psychiatric dysfunction of patients, determine the need for admission or referral, apply knowledge of internal and community resources, and handle administrative detail.
- Requires the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when assessing psychiatric presentation of patients, gathering, and analyzing data, managing priorities, and entering patient data in computer, and frequently produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue and stress.
