We are looking for an Access Control Technician to join a services team supporting commercial projects in South Carolina. This contract opportunity with the potential for a long-term role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on installation work, solving technical issues in the field, and delivering dependable low-voltage and physical security solutions.
Responsibilities
- Install and route low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber, and similar media, for commercial environments.
- Terminate, label, and verify cabling runs to ensure reliable system performance and accurate identification.
- Assist with the setup and servicing of access control components such as readers, door hardware, and other security devices.
- Support the deployment of surveillance, alarm, and related physical security systems at client locations.
- Interpret drawings, layouts, and site documentation to complete work according to project specifications.
- Diagnose wiring faults, connectivity problems, and equipment issues, then perform repairs to restore functionality.
- Maintain neat, safe, and standards-compliant installations across active job sites.
- Record completed work, testing results, and service updates while keeping supervisors and clients informed of progress.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage cabling in commercial or similar field environments.
- Familiarity with access control systems and other physical security technologies.
- Working knowledge of cable termination, cable testing, and basic network connectivity principles.
- Ability to use hand tools and installation equipment safely and effectively on job sites.
- Comfortable lifting materials and working in active construction or service environments as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally within the surrounding area.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow technical drawings and installation plans.
