About the role
We're looking for an Access Control Technician to join our security gate and fence installation team. This isn't a sit-behind-a-desk career; you'll travel nationwide installing access control systems, security gates, and fencing. Travel is approximately 50–75%, and you need to be comfortable being away for up to two weeks at a time.
Responsibilities
- Working as a key member of access control, security gate, and fence installation crews
- Reading and following blueprints, job plans, and project specifications
- Performing low-voltage electrical work, including wiring gate operators and access control systems
- Working with concrete, including preparing for and pouring concrete
- Welding and fabrication-related work
- Operating heavy equipment
- Safely loading, securing, and organizing materials, tools, and equipment on trailers
- Learning and applying access control and gate installation techniques
- Communicating daily job progress with project managers and the team
- Identifying quality issues and helping determine root causes and corrective actions
- Maintaining tools and equipment so they're ready when the crew needs them
- Keeping jobsites, vehicles, trailers, and work areas organized
- Upholding Empire's safety expectations on every project
- Taking ownership of whatever else needs to happen to get the project across the finish line
Requirements
- At least two years of construction experience, preferably with fence, access control, security gates, or field quality control
- Experience working with concrete and not being afraid of welding, equipment, electrical work, or learning a new skill
- Comfortable loading and securing materials and equipment on a trailer
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
- Organized enough to keep track of the details but practical enough to keep a project moving
- Good communication skills with both the people swinging the tools and the people managing the project
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Safe driving record and valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and handle the physical demands of construction work
- OSHA 10 required. OSHA 30 is a plus
