Access Control Specialist
About the role
Assesses operational needs regarding the Access Control System. Monitors and maintains access control hardware and assists the campus with troubleshooting, repair and hardware problems. Installs, repairs and makes modifications on a variety of access control board card readers, electric locks and other supportive devices. Basic programming of system hardware. Verifies field hardware interface and integration with other security systems. Oversees the maintenance and replacement of tools and various peripheral devices including exit device requests, contacts and door locking hardware. Reviews service order requests and coordinates work to be performed with customers on campus. Conducts Quality Control on all Third-Party installation of access control devices. Monitors and processes alarms from the access control system, by distinguishing alarm types associated with hardware alarms and response alarms. Verifies alarms are being generated based on ranking of alarms as well as decreasing false positives. Notify appropriate parties of all alarms. Regularly updates and maintains Access Control System information into computer database. Receives incoming phone calls from campus Department Access Users and assists with troubleshooting. Creates and assigns user rights and permissions to access the Electronic Access Control Software. Verify door peripherals are working correctly and report any defects to Access Control Facilities Department. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School Diploma Or GED Required
- Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
- Experience with Lenel Software and Access Control Installation strongly preferred.
- Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job. Must be able to obtain Lenel Core Certification within a year from hire.
Qualifications
- Education verification will be conducted upon acceptance of an employment offer.
- Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.
