Schedule

Flexible hours, up to 15 hours per week. Tutoring Center is open 9 am – 8 pm Monday – Thursday, 9 am – 2 pm Friday, 9 am – 1 pm Saturday.

Pay

$22.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Provide drop-in, private, or online tutoring as assigned.
  • Reinforce classroom instruction, encourage academic progress, and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the students they serve.
  • Maintain student records, timesheets, and other paperwork.
  • Attend department meetings and training sessions.
  • Participate in discussions regarding ways to better serve students.
  • Refer students to the Associate Dean of Academic Support Services, if appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned that pertain to the job description.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in the subject in which the person will tutor.
  • Must be responsible, independent workers who maintain an on-time commitment.
  • Must possess sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged/at-risk students.
  • Must possess sensitivity for students of all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, how to tutor students with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience preferred, especially with high school or college-level students.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary (up to 10 lbs occasionally, sitting most of the time).
  • Visual acuity (arm's length).

Work Environment

  • Moderate noise.
  • Typical office or administrative environmental conditions.
