About the role
A children's hospital in West Virginia is seeking an additional pediatric neurologist to join a thriving practice with one other pediatric neurologist and an APP. This position will focus on inpatient and outpatient clinical work as well as teaching residents and medical students, with the support to develop an area of clinical expertise. Those with training in clinical neurophysiology or epilepsy would be especially welcome, though child neurologists with any subspecialty interests are encouraged to apply.
Practice model
- Outpatient clinic + hospital consult model (PICU, NICU, wards, ER)
- Weekend coverage supported by telemedicine clinics, improving flexibility and reducing on-site demands
- Teach Neurology residents and Pediatrics residents
- 1:4 call coverage
- Collegial work setting for easy specialty referrals
Hospital & support resources
The practice is a regional tertiary center for children, with referrals from twenty surrounding counties and includes a 30-bed inpatient pediatric unit, a 6-bed PICU with 4 additional transitional care beds staffed by board certified pediatric intensivists, and a Level III 26-Bed NICU staffed 24/7 by in-house board-certified neonatologists.
In the outpatient setting, support staff include a registration representative and pre-certification specialist to manage scheduling and prior authorization needs, and a medical assistant who helps triage patient calls and coordinate communication with families. There is also support by their EEG department with round-the-clock EEG tech coverage, and an epilepsy monitoring unit.
