Academic Outpatient Psychiatrist, Integrated and Specialty Care - Assistant Professor

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist, including candidates with dual training in family or internal medicine and psychiatry, to join our expanding ambulatory psychiatry practice. This position offers the opportunity to practice in innovative models of integrated behavioral health within primary care and specialty medical and surgical clinics across the Froedtert & MCW health network.

Position Highlights

• Provides outpatient psychiatric care in integrated clinical settings, working closely with primary care physicians and medical or surgical subspecialists.
• Participates in collaborative care models embedded within primary care practices, working closely with our integrated behavioral health care managers.
• Provides psychiatric consultation and treatment within specialty clinics, which may include: transplant programs (kidney, liver, lung, and heart), neurology (e.g., epilepsy, movement disorders), cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and other medical or surgical specialty clinics.
• Manages psychiatric conditions in patients with complex medical and surgical comorbidity.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary care teams, including psychologists, social workers, care managers, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, and physicians of various specialties.
• Participates in innovative care delivery models designed to improve access to behavioral health services and integration with medical care.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or board eligible Psychiatry.
• State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.
• Demonstrated interest in ambulatory psychiatry and interdisciplinary care.
