Academic Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD
About the role
Alpha School leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction so students can complete core academics in roughly two hours each day. That leaves the remainder of the day for life skills, passion-centered projects, and genuine development. At our most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight. They require a credible mentor who can assess the environment, establish the standard, and guide them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate 1:1 and small-group coaching that converts student objectives into consistent action and quantifiable progress
- Leverage analytics and student objectives to identify obstacles and establish ambitious, personalized motivation strategies
- Execute demanding life-skills workshops through credible narrative, reflection, and practical application, then evaluate mastery
- Direct daily opening sessions that establish culture, affirm high expectations, and prepare students before work begins
- Build credible mentor relationships with students and families through high standards, consistency, and sound judgment
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Conduct classes, deliver lectures, or provide tutoring as a traditional instructor
- Develop curriculum, generate lesson plans, or evaluate student work
- Supervise adults, oversee campus operations, or assume administrative leadership responsibilities
- Reduce standards to secure short-term compliance or quick victories
