About the role
Boston University is launching a significant expansion of undergraduate advising by increasing the number of professional academic advisors. Each advisor will work with a caseload of approximately 200 students in one of our undergraduate schools or colleges.
Responsibilities
- Engage in holistic academic advising that supports exploration and helps students realize academic, career, and life goals.
- Work closely with students to develop personalized academic plans and support their educational, career, and personal development.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other advisors to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Provide guidance on course selection, academic planning, and career development opportunities.
- Assist students in navigating university resources and policies.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and support.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of advising strategies and programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of experience required.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of academic advising principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using technology tools for advising and record-keeping.
Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Benefits
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and internal pay comparison.
Pay
Minimum $60,800.00
