About the role

The Academic Administrative Assistant supports department chairs, program directors, and faculty. They provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the Office of the Provost and Dean of the College. This position reports to the Academic Administrative Supervisor and supervises student workers.

Responsibilities

  • Support department chairs, program directors, and faculty.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office.
  • Maintain department website, social media and newsletter.
  • Advertise student opportunities and organize materials.
  • Assist with logistics, preparations and publicity for all meetings and events sponsored by departments and programs.
  • Hire, train, supervise and approve timesheets for student workers including tutors and teaching assistants.
  • Collaborate and maintain relations with departments across campus.
  • Report building concerns and needs to Facilities.
  • Attend Academic Administrative Assistant (AAA) meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide support to and serve as a backup to other AAAs, departments and programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1+ year of office or administrative experience, or relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience: 3+ years office or administrative experience; experience working in an academic environment.

  • Prerequisites: Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.

$38,844

Schedule

The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the academic year; no work is required in the summer, but your pay continues throughout the summer.
