About the role
Able Seaman (AB) on a Bulk Carrier vessel. The role involves performing various deck duties, standing lookout watches, and assisting in the maintenance of the vessel.
Responsibilities
- Standing lookout watches and ensuring the safety of the vessel.
- Assisting in the maintenance of deck equipment and machinery.
- Performing mooring and unmooring operations.
- Operating and maintaining deck machinery such as winches and cranes.
- Assisting in cargo operations under the supervision of officers.
- Participating in safety drills and emergency procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and company policies.
- Performing general cleaning and maintenance duties on deck.
Requirements
- Valid Able Seaman (AB) certificate.
- STCW certification (Basic Safety Training).
- Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book (SIRB) or Seaman’s Book.
- Valid medical certificate (e.g., ENG1 or equivalent).
- Previous experience as an Able Seaman or Ordinary Seaman on commercial vessels.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and follow instructions from senior officers.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging weather conditions.
