The Wasserstrom Company, established in 1902, is a family-owned, leading national Food Service Distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. This position is located in the Information Services Department at our corporate office.
About the role
As an ABAP Developer, you will author technical specifications, develop and enhance SAP applications, and plan and conduct related testing within the Warehouse Management, Sales and Distribution, and Finance functional areas.
Responsibilities
- Write new and modify existing ABAP and List Viewer (ALV) reports, user exits, Business Add-Ins (BADIs), Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs), Intermediate Documents (IDOCs), and dialogue programs using the ABAP workbench.
- Perform workflow programming, develop test strategies, create test data, and run tests to ensure business continuity.
- Resolve performance issues and write technical specifications from functional design specifications.
- Collaborate with other developers and business analysts to prepare test plans and/or detailed technical specifications for program development.
- Upgrade and enhance the SAP application, handling small to medium projects from requirement gathering, feasibility study, development, implementation, to post-production support.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of system design and its support of company business, along with a strong grasp of core business processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent training and experience.
- 5+ years of ABAP experience in WM, SD, MM, and FI/CO modules.
- Experience in at least 5 full life cycle projects, from requirements gathering through implementation and support.
- Demonstrated experience independently handling small to medium IT projects through various project stages.
- Proficiency in ABAP workbench, including writing and modifying ABAP & ALV reports, user exits, BADIs, BAPIs, IDOCs, dialogue programs, and Web Services.
- Experience with workflow programming, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and writing technical specifications from functional design specifications.
- Knowledge of IDoc processing, EDI/ALE setup and configuration, and exposing/consuming web services to interact with third-party applications.
- Prior experience supporting or participating in ECC to S/4HANA migration projects is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated knowledge of ABAP Objects, LSMW, Smartforms/Adobe PDF, Interfaces, and SAPScripts.
