Job Goal
Under occasional supervision and through administrative and certified teacher support, provide skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism and related developmental delays in a school setting.
Performance Responsibilities
- Provide skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Aid in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment.
- Perform specialized work by assisting teachers in instructing and directing student activities.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with certified teachers, parents and administration.
- Remain knowledgeable about individual student needs and success plans.
- Work individually with students needing academic or behavior interventions.
- Work in small groups on classroom activities under the supervision of the teacher.
- Participate in staff development and training to learn and update skills related to the position.
- Assists administration and staff with various administrative / clerical functions as requested.
Physical Requirements
- Requires light work that involves walking, bending, or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
- Must have ability to physically restrain a student if called upon to do so after proper training.
- May also be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications
- Successful experience working directly with children with autism and related developmental delays in a home, school, or clinical setting.
- Is versed in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and has certification as a Registered Behavior Technician.
Required Qualifications
- Possess an associate's degree from an accredited college.
- Earn 60 semester hours (or the equivalent) from an accredited college.
- Hold a GED or high school diploma and pass the ParaPro test prior to employment.
