About the role
Our Team in Space and Defense Group is seeking an A&T Technician III – Orbital Welder to join our team in Niagara Falls, New York. Reporting to the General Manufacturing & Operations Manager, this position offers an onsite, 1st shift work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Operate orbital welding and other welding equipment including extensive setup and prep equipment (operate tube trimming equipment, maintains cleanliness standards)
- Set-ups are exacting and frequently complicated involving precise part(s) utilizing various height gauges, plates, measuring instruments, and fixturing
- Follow and advise on written setup procedures
- Operation of Tungsten, Inert Gas Welding equipment (T.I.G.), both in a manual and semi-automatic state
- Assemble weld process related hardware and fixture installation
- Create a weld sample, prepare it for inspection and inspect the results under a microscope to verify requirements
- Parts and fixtures are also inspected under a microscope for weld requirements and workmanship quality. Parts may require dimensional inspection, utilizing but not limited to a drop gage and indicator
- Determine operating requirements for voltage, temperature, position, time, capacities, etc. when precise instructions are not available
- Perform various precision assembly, test and process-based operations on complex components, assemblies and systems supporting new production and repair
- Use Operator "techniques" are critical in considering alignment, distance, slope control, power settings, geometry of weld and proximity to edge
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, or chemical processes requiring use of protective eyewear and PPE
- This position requires full physical, which includes bloodwork, Pulmonary Function testing, and fit test
Requirements
- A High School diploma or GED preferred, otherwise demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English
- Demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- At least 3 years of relevant experience

- Ability to perform simple arithmetic operations
- Experience with orbital welding and other welding equipment
- Ability to follow written setup procedures
- Knowledge of Tungsten, Inert Gas Welding equipment (T.I.G.) operation
- Ability to assemble and install weld-related hardware and fixtures
- Ability to create and inspect weld samples
- Ability to determine operating requirements for welding equipment
- Ability to perform precision assembly and test operations
- Ability to use protective eyewear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
