About the role

University Radiology, a leading provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in New Jersey, is seeking a full-time A/R Representative for its East Brunswick, NJ Business Office. The position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts patients and insurance carriers by phone or website to perform various collection actions.
  • Communicates and resolves claims with insurance carrier representatives to ensure efficient claim processing.
  • Understands and resolves rejections, denials, insufficient payments, and unpaid claims by correcting, resubmitting, and appealing claims to third-party payers.
  • Accurately enters and updates patient demographics, insurance information, and other pertinent details to facilitate account resolution.
  • Maintains and analyzes account receivable challenges and opportunities, communicating findings to management and contributing with innovative solutions.
  • Reports payer issues and trends, along with account numbers and dollar amounts associated with these issues.
  • Manages correspondence and handles projects as a team member or individually, as assigned.
  • Complies with established policies, procedures, HIPAA standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Uses Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and demonstrates knowledge of insurance payers, reimbursement, denial prevention, and appeals in a fast-paced, high-volume office setting.
  • Works with insurance websites, understands various insurance contracts and reimbursement structures (including Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, No-Fault, and Workers' Compensation).
  • Works independently with minimal supervision, maintaining a professional and positive work environment, and fostering healthy work relationships with colleagues.
  • Learns quickly and accurately toggles between different host and billing systems, understanding both the collection workflow and the broader revenue cycle.
  • Provides feedback, ideas, and suggestions to improve office operations and morale during meetings.
  • Displays organizational skills and effectively manages multiple tasks.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as a collector.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of insurance payers, reimbursement, denial prevention, and appeals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of insurance websites and various insurance contracts and reimbursement structures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude and ability to maintain a professional work environment.
