A&P Mechanic Instructor

About the role

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), Aircraft Mechanics, and FAA‑certified A&P Mechanics to join our team as instructors. In this position you will deliver FAA Part 147‑aligned aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands‑on instruction to students preparing for careers as aircraft maintenance technicians. No prior teaching experience is required; a 5‑day paid instructor training program is provided to help you transition into the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands‑on environment.
• Deliver FAA‑aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification.
• Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
• Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership.
• Help create a structured, engaging, and safety‑focused learning environment.
• Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in aviation or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.

Schedule

Day Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Evening Shift: Monday – Thursday, 2:45 PM – 11:45 PM; Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Compensation

Up to $35 per hour (Full‑time)
