A little bird told me…
About the Exhibition
Feminist Bird Club Dundee presents a unique project at Volk Gallery, where each artist is given a size limit and budget to create a club membership pack. The pack includes a newly produced map highlighting local bird and wildlife watching spots, designed to encourage appreciation of the area's biodiversity. Additionally, members' binocular photos have been transformed into magnets.
Interested in joining Feminist Bird Club Dundee? The included handbook provides more details on how to get involved.
Artist's Statement
Feminist Bird Club Dundee is an inclusive club welcoming anyone who believes in an equal society. No expertise in birds, wildlife, or equipment is required—just curiosity about the environment and an interest in social justice. We learn from one another through meetups, walks, conservation activities, and discussions.
Our goal is to make birding and the outdoors inclusive and affirming, particularly for those who may not have safe access to these spaces. We especially encourage participation from LGBTQIA+, global majority, disabled, neurodivergent, and working-class communities. Our feminism is intersectional, and we recognize the interconnectedness of climate and social justice.
As a local chapter of Feminist Bird Clubs worldwide, we believe in birding with respect for all and are eager to collaborate and grow our group.
