A Facility in IL Is Searching for a Locums Pathologist

About the role

This locum tenens pathology assignment includes approximately 3,000 surgical pathology cases per year, with cytology (about 100 cases, FNA only, no Pap smears), peripheral smear reviews, blood bank coverage, and large specimen grossing and frozen sections. Bone marrow procedures and autopsies are not part of the role. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with no call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Handle approximately 3,000 surgical pathology cases per year
• Perform cytology (≈100 cases, FNA only, no Pap smears)
• Conduct peripheral smear reviews
• Provide blood bank coverage
• Perform large specimen grossing and frozen sections

Requirements

• Anatomic and clinical pathology certification/experience
• Experience with cytology (FNA) and peripheral smear review
• Ability to perform large specimen grossing and frozen sections
• Role excludes bone marrow procedures and autopsies

Pay

Competitive compensation ranging from $180.00 to $220.00 per hour (all‑inclusive, combining base pay with potential overtime, call, and holiday pay). Rates are estimates and vary based on critical need, experience, qualifications, and other factors.

Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm; no call requirements.
