94E Radio and Communications Security Repairer
About the Role
As the Radio and Communications Security Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will maintain the equipment and systems that ensure secure communications. Duties include installing and repairing circuits and wiring, calibrating and aligning equipment components, stringing overhead cables between utility poles, repairing systems, performing equipment tests, and conducting preventive maintenance checks and services.
Advanced Radio and Communications Security Repairers handle more complex tasks, such as training and supervising other Soldiers, testing equipment, performing intricate repairs, and ensuring compliance with National Security Agency-approved components for communication security and controlled cryptographic item repairs.
Responsibilities
- Use test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment
- Test program sets and interactive electronic technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Install and repair circuits and wiring
- Calibrate and align equipment components
- String overhead cables between utility poles
- Repair systems and perform equipment tests
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services on equipment
- Train and supervise other Soldiers (Advanced role)
- Ensure National Security Agency-approved components are used in communication security repairs (Advanced role)

You will develop strong attention to detail through your training.
Training
Instead of paying to learn these skills, you will be paid to train. After 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for 16 weeks of classroom instruction, including hands-on practice with equipment. Training covers mechanical, electronic, and electrical principles, preventive maintenance procedures, and communication security policies and procedures.

Most non-prior service candidates will earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
