About the role

As a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will maintain chemical decontamination equipment and quartermaster machinery. Your responsibilities include servicing internal combustion engine ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems, as well as performing damage assessment and repair.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance of chemical decontamination equipment and quartermaster machinery
• Maintain laundry and bath equipment, pumps, engines, burners, filter units, and water purification units
• Maintain special purpose equipment, decontamination and protective filter systems, smoke generator systems, and chemical electrical systems
• Service internal combustion engine ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems
• Perform damage assessment and repair

Training and career development

You will complete 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which includes hands-on and classroom training in marine engine maintenance and repair, internal combustion engine theory, and tool use.

Your skills will translate to civilian careers in marine transportation, commercial fishing, oil exploration, or oil drilling industries, such as marine engine mechanic.

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• At least a junior in high school, or a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Age between 17 and 35
• Ability to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
